Sneak Peek at Holdem Manager 2 iPhone Application

The new Holdem Manager 2 has already proven, in the early stages, to be one of the most preeminent pieces of software for online poker players.  The upgrade over the original Holdem Manager includes features, tools, and benefits that leave its award-winning first generation platform light-years behind, along with advances that will make every player jump for joy.  But something that separates HEM2 from its competition is the ability to take your hand histories on the go with the addition of the HEM2 app for iPhone, iPad, and iTouch.

The app works in conjunction with MY HM, which provides many opportunities for social networking and on-the-go review of your hand histories.  The upload of the application from iTunes was lightning fast and only made me regret that I didn’t pull out a stopwatch to time it and see exactly how fast it was.

The installation process was tremendously simple and immediately functional, as I entered my e-mail and username to access the app and was into the application and surfing its functions in less than a minute.

The new look Hand Replayer on HEM2 has a function that allows you to share your hands to a web program called MY HM, which uploads your hands from your Holdem Manger database into a HEM2 Cloud Database online. From there, you can interface with friends and HEM community members to get opinions on the hands selected and see how other players would have played the same hand by viewing comments below the full hand history page.

You can upload a single hand, an entire session, or an entire tournament to have complete review functionality on a separate and secure web page, which you grant access to other users.

The new HEM2 app for iPhone, iPad, and iTouch can store up to 100,000 hands from the HEM2/MY HM database in your private HM iPhone database and allows you to review your hands, read comments, and replay hands so that you can share and discuss with a private group of friends or other users.

The HEM2 mobile app consists of four main menus and a “More” category for additional info and videos.  Let’s take a look at each of the items from the main menu.

Hands Menu

This is the menu that allows you to view each of the hands that you have uploaded to your MY HM Cloud.  By pressing on “My Search,” you open the app’s functions to filter your search based on customizable criteria.  You can view each of the hands in your database through a series of filters like Game, Game Format, Betting Structure, Outcome, Position, Table Size, Minimum Pot Size, Outcome Value, Hole Cards, and Stakes.

Once you’ve identified your search criteria, you will be taken to a new screen with all of the hands matched by your filters in your MY HM page.

Here, you can select the individual hands, as HEM2 provides a complete hand history of the hand in question and gives you the ability to comment on it or replay it on the mobile app hand replayer.

You can also select to share the hand through a channel, with a group, via Twitter, or make it public for all to see.  The functions work immediately and allow players to not only have their hands be completely mobile, but also have your hand history database be completely social as well with whomever you chose to make the hands accessible to.

The Hands Menu also allows you to search your entire database of hands, individual sessions, and all of the hands you wish to share with your devices.  In each section, the app also offers the same social features, allowing you to be a single click away from having your poker database shared with whomever you want.

Groups Menu

MY HM has helped narrow or heighten your ability to make certain hands or sessions completely private or available to whomever you select by creating different custom groups.  Basically, whether you upload a single hand or a complete session or tournament, you are placed into a group with your username as the group title.

From that group, you have the option of adding friends or other users of the Holdem Manager forum to join your group so that they can view the hands that you add and provide feedback.  The user has the ability to moderate the group to exclude or delete any feedback provided and can control the members of the group that are allowed in.

Channels Menu

Users have the opportunity to subscribe to channels in this menu including the Holdem Manager Channel, the CardRunners Channel, and many more.  By subscribing to the channels, users will receive a wealth of hands uploaded by users to the channel, giving players endless information on how different hands were played and how the pots evolved.

The channels are also searchable and sortable on the app through a series of filters, making it easier to locate channels you’re looking to find.

The app also has a notifications menu that hosts a location to receive all of your HEM2 notifications and a “More” category that features several videos from Holdem Manger, introducing the new features on Holdem Manager, videos from TwoPlusTwo, and Table Ninja.

By the way, here's a sneak peek at how to Tweet using Holdem Manager's 2 slick iPhone App:

While the new app for iPhone, iPad, and iTouch is still in its infancy stages, the networking and functionality of it is, in a word, incredible.  The app will be made available to the general public very soon and the best part comes in the cost, which will be absolutely free to Hold’em Manager users.
