IdleMiner Developers Interview with PokerSoftware

One year ago, IdleMiner partnered with PokerTableRatings.com to offer its suite of Handgrabbers to a larger percentage of the online poker playing universe.  PokerSoftware.com caught up with IdleMiner’s developers to see how the transition has gone and how the events of April 15th have impacted the datamining juggernaut.

PSW: It's been almost a year since IdleMiner joined forces with PokerTableRatings.  How has the transition gone for you so far?

IdleMiner: The transition has gone well. The guys over at PTR have been great to work with and they are doing a lot of exciting things.

PSW: Has the marketplace changed much for you since the actions of the U.S. Department of Justice on Black Friday?

IdleMiner: For IdleMiner specifically, we have definitely felt the loss of Full Tilt. However, we have hundreds of customers using our Hand Grabbers for other networks like Ongame, iPoker, Everest, 888, and Bodog, so the impact was mitigated. We've also seen several players who have switched rooms recently and given our products a try.

PSW: What do you get when you buy a package of Handgrabbers? Are you limited to data mining hands on just one machine or can you upload hands to both a laptop and a desktop?

Idleminer: Purchasing a license allows you to datamine unlimited hands forever. You will also get updates as bugs are fixed and new features are released for free.

Regarding the multiple computers, you may install the Handgrabbers on up to two computers. This is so you can have it on both your laptop and your desktop at no additional charge. Additional requests for installation will be handled on a case-by-case basis and should be directed to our support team.

PSW: Is purchasing hand histories today more or less valuable for online players since Black Friday?

IdleMiner: Although there are no statistics on this, one would imagine the loss of the biggest market in the world would bring with it the loss of a big chunk of weaker players. Any time the landscape gets more competitive, players will look for any edge they can get to gain an advantage.

PSW: What advantages would a player who uses IdleMiner have versus one who hasn't uploaded hand histories into their databases?

IdleMiner: The benefit of using tracking software grows proportionally to the size of the database. The more hand histories you have in your database, the more accurate is the evaluation of your opponents, which allows you to make better educated decisions when playing against them. Our Handgrabbers allow you to mine data from multiple tables without participating in those hands, saving you both chips and money. We help you expand your database significantly while you are away from your computer, going about your day.

PSW: What can we expect from IdleMiner in the future?

Idleminer: We will continue to offer the current set of Handgrabbers, but we also have some have some innovative projects in the works related to Handgrabbers that we think people will find useful. Stay tuned for more information on those in our future updates!
