Date: 2014-11-12
Author: Jason Glatzer

We asked several members of PokerStars Team Online their thoughts on PokerSoftware.  Here is the first part of our question and answer session.  We hope you'll get a lot by reading their insight into what's in their Heads-Up Display, or HUD.

PokerSoftware:  What poker software are you currently using or have used in the past?

Grzegorz "DaWarsaw" Mikielewicz:  I am currently using Hold'em Manager 2, Table Ninja, TableScan Turbo, and in the past I have used PokerTracker.

Jorge "Baalim" Limon:  I am currently using or have used in the past PokerTracker 2 and 3, Hold'em Manger 2, NoteCaddy, NoteCaddy Edge, CardRunners EV, and Odds Oracle.

Mikhail "innerpsy" Shalamov:  I use PokerTracker4, Table Ninja, and Flopzilla.

Felix "xflixx" Schneiders:  I am using or have used Hold'em Manager, PokerTracker, PokerStove, Equilab, Flopzilla, CardrunnersEV, and PokerSnowie.

Andre Brito "acoimbra" Coimbra:  I have used Hold'em Manager, Sharkystrator, PSHandler, ICMIZER, Flopzilla, PokerStove, and Placemint.

Katerina "Katerina289" Malasidou:  I have used SNG Wizard, PokerStove, Table Ninja, ICMizer, TimeBankStars, StackAndTile, PSHandler, Hold'em Manager, and Sharkystrator.

Naoya "nkeyno" Kihara:  I use Hold'em Manager 2.

Celeste "LadyMaCe86" Orona:  I am using Holdem Manager 2, NoteCaddy, and StarsHelper.

Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome:  All I use is PokerTracker.  I use the software mostly to track wins and losses more than the stats, to be honest.

Luka "LukaSteel" Kovac:  I am using Hold'em Manager 2, TableScan Turbo, StarsHelper, Placemint, and PokerStrategy Equilab.

George "Jorj95" Lind:  I use both TableNinja and an auto-hotkey script that tells me how many tables I have open.

PokerSoftware:  How important is a HUD to your game?

Grzegorz "DaWarsaw" Mikielewicz:  Using a HUD is really important and is extremely crucial during multi-tabling.

Jorge "Baalim" Limon:  It is important when I play $2.50/$5 Zoom with big pools of players and less important at $5/$10 and higher with regs I am very familiar with.

Mikhail "innerpsy" Shalamov:  My HUD is more like a decoration nowadays, as I barely use it anymore.

Felix "xflixx" Schneiders:  My HUD is not very important to me and I could also go without one.

Andre Brito "acoimbra" Coimbra:  I personally rely quite a bit on my HUD to play, but George "Jorj95" Lind doesn't use a HUD at all for Hyper-Turbo sit and gos and Caio "pessagno" Pessagno doesn't use a HUD for MTTs.  So, I don't know if I need to rely on a HUD as much as I have been.

Katerina "Katerina289" Malasidou:  Using a HUD is very important to me.

Naoya "nkeyno" Kihara:  Since I have switched to playing MTTs, a HUD is not very important to me. Unlike cash games, the play is different depending on a many variables such as stack sizes, proximity to the bubble, and who is behind.

Celeste "LadyMaCe86" Orona:  My HUD is crucial to my game.

Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome:  I would prefer games without them.  I look at the HUD, but only notice the extreme outliers.  I have used it before during a tournament to look at some lines players take, but generally don't have enough hands on anyone to make it significant.

Luka "LukaSteel" Kovač:  I have been using HUDs for as long as I can remember and I'm so used to it that I'm a bit confused when I don't have it. Basically, it helps me play more tables, more comfortably.

George "Jorj95" Lind:  I don't use one.  It would probably help me marginally, but it's definitely not necessary to me.

PokerSoftware:  How is your HUD set up?

Grzegorz "DaWarsaw" Mikielewicz:  My HUD starts off with the player's name and number of hands.  It also includes general stats such as VPIP, PFR, Aggression Frequency, steals from late positions, 3bets from late positions, opens from all positions, fold to 3bet from those positions, fold to steal, c-r flop, squeeze, Cbet in 3bet pots, different stats for 3bets, 4bets, and 5bets, Cbets and 2 barrells/3 barrels, Folds to Cbet/2b/3b, bet when checked to, fold to flop, and raise 'Versus Me' stats.
