If you are just learning Omaha and have discovered that the hand equity of pocket aces and other hands pre-flop are vastly different than the odds in Texas Hold'em, you are not alone.

There are plenty of offline poker odds calculators that you can use for free to ease you into some of the math behind the game.  However, did you know that there is one free software tool, Omaha Checker, that not only will help you with offline calculations, but also give you your pre-flop equity against a perceived range of one or two opponents?

What's cool about this software, besides being both free and powerful, is how easy it is to use and set up.  You just need to have Omaha Checker running and attach the software's bulls-eye symbol to your Omaha table.

From here, the software will automatically pick up your pre-flop hands and show your equity against a variety of types of ranges that one or two of your opponents could have including AAxx only, AAxx or KKxx only, top 10%, top 15%, top 20%, and top 25% of all hands.  While you should be able to place your opponent in one of these preset ranges, you can also quickly set your own custom range for your opponent by using the software's menu slider.

The software not only helps you understand what your equity is, but also gets you thinking about hand ranges your opponents might have while playing.  The better you learn to range your opponents, the more useful the calculations the software provides will be to how you approach certain situations against them.

Omaha Checker doesn't stop here, as you can also look at pre-flop equity based off your opponents' call ranges.  Additionally, you can view your information in both Classic and Alternative formats, giving you more than one way to look at the same data.

Even if you don't feel you need to brush up on your math and understanding of equity, you might as well still use Omaha Checker when playing Omaha online at PokerStars.  You have nothing to lose due to the software itself being free.

For those of you who don't play on PokerStars or wish to brush up on your math offline, this odds calculator will allow you to plug in any set of pre-flop cards for yourself against a range of your opponents' hands.  This differs from many of the other free offline Omaha odds calculators that require that you input an exact hand for your opponent instead of a range.

For free, it would be hard to find a better bargain in the poker software industry than Omaha Checker.  You may discover like many other poker players have how this software can quickly increase your understanding of Omaha along with your win rate. Check it out.
