Interview with Calculatem Pro developers
PokerSoftware.com: Tell us how the idea for Calculatem Pro got started.
Calculatem Pro: There was a company called Texas Calculatem that developed the calculator product. They made a Pro version that included pot odds and updated graphics and then we purchased them, so that’s how it all got started.
PokerSoftware.com: Can you tell us about its development? What were some of the key challenges?
Calculatem Pro: The biggest challenge is, without a doubt, getting accurate data to use for the odds calculations. Without the correct data, the calculations will, of course, be incorrect. Even a small piece of incorrect information can cause the calculations to be totally wrong, which would look very bad in the eyes of users.
PokerSoftware.com: What features, in your mind, separate Calculatem Pro from other programs like it in the industry?
Calculatem Pro: The number of supported poker rooms, as we have a lot more than the competition. Also, good customer support. Our support personnel are always working very hard to help out anyone who has a problem using the software.
PokerSoftware.com: What features can we look forward to in the future?
Calculatem Pro: Many more online poker rooms will be supported in the near future. There have been a lot of requests for supporting more Italian sites and this is something we are working on. We also plan to add support for other game types like Omaha and are working on a version of our software that is compatible with Mac, but we don’t have a timeframe for when all of this will be complete. The interface will also receive a facelift in the near future and work is being done so that it will run on the next version of Windows.
PokerSoftware.com: What feedback do you typically receive from consumers?
Calculatem Pro: Consumers seem to appreciate our efforts assisting them with their inquiries. We often receive responses from our consumers thanking us for our high level of customer support.
PokerSoftware.com: Explain the process of making Calculatem Pro compatible with several different online poker sites. How do you handle sites upgrading their software?
Calculatem Pro: Most poker sites belong to a network; sites in the same network are very similar to one another and can be dealt with in the same way. Given this, we can support hundreds of online poker rooms, but only have to deal with about 15 unique networks. When a site updates, so do we. Most of the time, the update does not affect the functionality of the calculator, but from time to time, we have to adapt. Depending on the severity of the update, it can take between one hour and one week to adjust.
PokerSoftware.com: Do you have any recommendations for consumers?
Calculatem Pro: Consumers should read our license agreement carefully before signing on to be appropriately informed about what they can expect. Furthermore, it might be a good idea for first-time users to start playing on free money tables to get to know our calculator thoroughly. It’s important to master how to interpret the calculations and how to adjust the personal settings without losing money. Lastly, they can always contact Support and we will try our best to provide them with a satisfactory reply within two business days.

Full Review
The heart of Calculatem Pro is its pot odds calculator. That is, the program will take into account not just the current pot odds, but also the odds that you’ll have the best hand after the river, and then give you a recommendation. In addition, it offers you a full analysis of every hand, including the number of outs you have, the odds you’ll draw out, the odds you’ll have the best hand on each of the streets to come, and a recommendation for action.
It’s like having your own poker analyst during your tournament or ring game. We played with it on a game of $0.05/$0.10 No Limit on Ultimate Bet and found it to be extremely useful. After all, who needs to crunch numbers when Calculatem Pro is at your side?
To launch Calculatem Pro, simply open a table on one of over 100 supported online poker rooms, drag the software’s window over your table, and click “Attach.” Then, Calculatem Pro will appear on your screen. You have the option of using the software in Full Mode or Mini Mode. If you have limited desktop space to work with, Mini Mode may be your best bet in maximizing the area you have to work with. Here is a look at the mini view:

Full Mode is by far the one that gives you the most information about every pot. You can think of the Full Mode graphic user interface (GUI) in three sections; top, center, and bottom. The top section shows your hole cards, community cards, and numerous statistics about the hand so far. The center section is where you get advice as to what you should do with your hand based on the current odds. A thermometer-like graphic shows you at a quick glace what you should do with your hand. You can loosen or tighten up your play based on what kind of table you’re seated at and the information you are presented with. We played a six-handed game and loosened up our settings accordingly. Calculatem Pro is perfect for experienced players who want to sharpen their long-term success. In the bottom portion of the program, you can find specific odds information about the game you're playing as well as icons that allow you to access other areas of Calculatem Pro with a click of a button.
Calculatem Pro also has a very nice options screen that allows you to make as many changes as you'd like. You can adjust the following settings:
- Adjust the calculation speed to match your computer's performance level
- Set the odds to display in Percentages, Ratios, or Chances
- Set your Post-Flop and Pre-Flop betting style to tight, loose, or somewhere in between
- Show your hole cards after you fold so you can continue to play virtually
- Rank pocket hands by historical strength
- Set your minimum playable hand by position, which allows you to dictate when Calculatem Pro should advise you to fold based on your current hand
A representative from Calculatem Pro sums up why you need their software: “The system weighs the pot amount against the odds of hitting your hand and tells you whether what you stand to win is actually worth the chance that you'll lose. It's something that basic calculators miss because it takes into account the size of your potential win as well as the strength of your hand. It'll be most obvious when you're playing with marginal hands where you'll see that the basic odds percentage doesn't change based on the size of the bets, but the pot odds recommendation will change to reflect these amounts.”
Calculatem Pro is a very helpful tool to have with you at the tables. Give it a shot.

I question Calculatem's integrity as a software provider. I signed up for a poker stars account through their site and after playing the required number of raked games to qualify for a free license for one year they indicated Poker Stars would provide me with a key; however, Pokerstars said Calculatem is prohibited on their site. So much for corporate integrity.

I easily made back the 100 bucks it cost to sign up. I went for the full mode and use it at UB, FullTilt, and PokerStars. I have just tried to crack into the money at the SnGs (top 3). I only play $5 and $6 9 person SnGs. For the past month 17 money finishes / 18 not. I have also used it on 180 and 90 player tourneys too, I am 2 wins 3 not, but I just don't have time to sit for 3 hours...
