Full Review
Online poker players develop friendships, admire top pros, and love spewy fish that ship off stacks of money. In order to follow their friends, watch top pros, or sit down with fish, they employ tools that allow them to find these players in quick fashion. Enter PlayerGPS, a website with a monthly subscription system that allows players to enter in screen names of opponents on various poker sites to track when they play at cash game tables. The poker buddy list will alert users through a variety of methods as to when a player sits down and report information like the site, stakes, and table name.
The benefits of using PlayerGPS are multifaceted and will help users in many different ways. The first and most obvious reason to subscribe to the service is to find your ATM-like fish at the tables. This “bum hunt” is employed by many of the top pros, who know there’s nothing wrong with playing the weakest competition possible. Another benefit is to find friends or top pros and see what they are playing so that you can easily rail their table if you so choose. Finally, PlayerGPS can also be used as a security method, as you can track yourself and be alerted whenever you log on to play poker. If you are not playing and suddenly get an alert, you’ve received an immediate notice that your account has been compromised.
The web-based system at PlayerGPS is extremely easy to use. After registration, you can set up your “Account Settings” via the main navigation. There, you can enter your e-mail address, password, instant messenger accounts, and SMS mobile number and carrier. You will receive a validation code for your mobile phone and, once entered in, you’ll be eligible to receive notifications. Here is a look at the Account Settings page:

Next, you’ll want to take a look at the “Alert List,” which is where you can create a player category, such as “Dead Money” or “Favorite Pros.” Then, you’ll enter a player using the “Add Player Alert” box and define the poker site and category that they will belong to. Once you’ve entered a person in, they will appear in your official alert list. In the list, you can add notes and turn on or off levels of notification. Here is a sneal peak at the Alert List:

PlayerGPS tracks all games at the $0.25-$0.50 level and above across all Hold’em, Omaha, Stud, and Mixed Games. The site currently tracks five of the top networks in the industry, with more sites coming soon. The pricing starts at $14.99 per month for tracking small-stakes games and is tiered up to $24.99 to track anything from $0.25-$0.50 to $3-$6 games. The top level costs $49.99 per month and provides the ability to track all games. Each level receives a finite number of SMS messages depending on your level of subscription. Here is a look at what the Now Playing list looks like:

If you are looking for an easy, automated buddy list alert system, take a test drive with the free trial offer at PlayerGPS. The system is much improved over its initial beta run and there are more features on the way.
