Sharp Stats Review Synopsis
Sharp Stats started as a free program to import hand histories from Cake Poker in order to keep track of results for cash games and tournaments. It quickly evolved into a full tracking program that imports hands from some of the most popular sites on the Web for online poker. It's a great program for people looking for a results tracker. The best part is the cost – it's free.
Sharp Stats Review Full Review
Sharp Stats is an evolving freeware product from a C++ programmer who wanted to provide a free program for people who wanted to keep track of their Cake Poker hand histories. His program quickly caught fire and requests poured in to improve the software to allow other major rooms' hand histories to be imported. What we have now is a fully functioning version of Sharp Stats 1.0, available for free.
The program imports hands into a PostgreSQL database. Installation of the program involves downloading an .exe file (about 1 MB) and double-clicking it. After about one minute, the configuration menu comes up and you simply click on the three "Initialize" buttons. The hands import very quickly, about 110 to 125 per second on a fast computer (Quad-Core Intel 2.4 GHz).
Once you've configured where to import hands from, Sharp Stats can be used to provide results on your game. There are tabs up at the top for specific reporting, such as Hold'em Cash, Omaha Cash, Omaha 8 Cash, Hold'em Tournament, Omaha Tournament, and Omaha 8 Tournament. There's also a "Rewards" tab to set up the Gold Chip, Rakeback, Bonus, or MGR adjustments to account for bankroll changes.
There's also a “Reports/Graphs” tab that generates graphs based on your results and the filters you set. Within this tab, there are several reports than can be generated, the first being the "Profit Graph," which can be filtered by Cash Game, Cash Game by Separated Blind Levels, Tournament, and Tournament Results. Below that is Daily Net Earnings Report by Fiscal Year and, finally, there is a Set Mining report that gives you information on how often you have pocket pairs, how often you see flops and hit sets, and how often you win or lose hands with those sets:

Overall, this is a great freeware program to track your results with. It shouldn't be confused with Holdem Manager or PokerTracker 3, as there are no real reports to provide statistical analysis about your game. This is strictly a results-oriented program; it doesn't provide game play stats or a Heads-Up Display (HUD). Nevertheless, for a free solution, it’s a really slick program that should definitely help micro-stakes players and people who don't care about in-depth stats or an HUD.
