Poker Software Reviews: In Case You Missed It

It seems that every month brings new tools that online poker players can use to track their play at the tables and improve their skills. PokerSoftware.com is always on the cutting edge of these new programs and in an effort to give the best recommendations to our readers, here is a quick recap of the last three programs we have reviewed in case you missed them.

Hold'em Indicator

Hold'em Indicator is one of those programs that will be most useful for newcomers to the games that they haven't yet learned all of the relevant statistical information that seasoned veterans know by heart. The program calculates the odds a player has to complete his best hand and tracks opponents' histories, making what might seem like a complex decision actually pretty simple. It works with many of the major online poker rooms and networks, thus making it an application that can be used with ease.

One of the best features that I have found about this program is that it teaches odds. While those who play for some time eventually learn these by heart, a new player sometimes will make mistakes that cost them money on the online felts. Hold'em Indicator removes this obstacle. The advice as to how to proceed with each hand is quite sound.

Poker Copilot

If you're a player who heads to the tables on a Mac, then you know that online poker rooms compatible with your computer are difficult to find and poker software is almost impossible to get. Poker Copilot is one program that a Mac user will want to look at for the same advantages that a PC user has with such programs as PokerTracker.

Poker Copilot is a tracking and analysis program that gathers information on your play as well as that of your opponents. Much like other analysis programs, you will have hand histories on frequent opponents, tracking capabilities for your online play, and a Heads-Up Display (HUD) that runs right alongside the poker room you are at. The program is one of few out there for Mac users and, as such, should be a tool that players use for improving their games.

Poker Copilot is only compatible with PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker. The $49.95 charge for the full version of the program (there is a free 30 day trial period) may seem a bit high, but for a Mac user to have the same advantages that PC users have, Poker Copilot is money well spent.

StoxEV

StoxEV requires you to put your poker instincts into the program and, much like a flow chart, offers the correct "if/then" decisions for a player to take into consideration. It is compatible with most online poker rooms and the cost is excellent: free of charge.

There are some pitfalls that a user might want to take into consideration with StoxEV, however. The program has a pretty big learning curve and, as such, can be a bit intimidating at first. Also part of the difficulty is in the information that a player must input into the program; the program is only going to be as good as the information you give it.

The upside of StoxEV, however, is that it's a new method a player can use to make tough decisions at the tables. Its analysis - when good information is provided - can provide aid to make or break decisions at the table, which drives up your bankroll. As such, it is a program that all poker players should check out.
