Holdem Manager Adds Improved Tournament Support

As part of a recent update from Holdem Manager, one of the world's most popular tracking and analysis programs, improved tournament support for the CryptoLogic and Microgaming Networks was added. In addition, upgraded tournament support for Dracula Poker and Pacific Poker, which is part of the 888 Network, was included. All told, the battle for supremacy in the marketplace continues between the program and its main competitor, PokerTracker. A slew of other bug fixes and additional features are due out in the near future. Let's take a look at what you can expect from Hold'em Manager.

To say that the crew at Hold'em Manager has been working overtime to roll out upgrades for its customers would be a massive understatement. Beta 14 was due out at the end of February and, according to Roy Goncalves of Hold'em Manager, it included the following: "We're going to add the new stats being collected as well as the EV fixer, which will go back and correct EV and $EV from previous hands. Once this is all done, we're going to release this as 1.08 and start on 1.09, which will feature Multi-Currency, Auto-Rate, and the Omaha and Table Scanner public betas." Included in the update is a fix of a database issue that resulted in an error with PostgreSQL 8.0.

Another bug that was fixed concerned an issue with the Heads-Up Display (HUD) not appearing on iPoker Network rooms. The Network is the largest worldwide that does not accept customers from the United States. Its flagship site is Titan Poker and it also includes CD Poker, Chili Poker, Expekt Poker, Mansion Poker, Noble Poker, Sun Poker, and VC Poker. The iPoker Network has grown in stature, with Titan Poker offering seven-figure monthly rake races. When players switch tables on the iPoker Network while using Hold'em Manager, they are still instructed to use the Table Finder tool.

In tournament summaries, players now have the option of changing the ROI, Winnings, and Dollars Per Hour stats to adjusted EV values. Along these lines was another fix for the iPoker Network, correcting an error involving payouts in six-handed tournaments. Finally, Hold'em Manager is making its software friendlier for players who use Netbooks. These small, low-end computers designed to surf the internet and respond to e-mail are surging in popularity in the deteriorating economy. The fix reads, "Updated the player preferences form so that the buttons were more easily reached by people using low resolution Netbooks." Dell, for example, sells Netbooks starting at just $249.

In a soon to be released version of Holdem Manager, new HUD stats will make their appearance. Other recently fixed items in the 15th beta version include fixing an issue with HUD stats appearing incorrectly when tables are resized on Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet as well as the HUD not properly launching for tournaments on the iPoker Network. Additional support was included for the $300,000 Guaranteed on PartyPoker, with the software auto-selecting a tournament size of 1,500 players and buy-in of $215. Finally, freerolls no longer appear as having a buy-in of $0.01. On PokerStars, freerolls do not appear in summary e-mails anymore (they previously had been included, but were marked as "errors").

Hold'em Manager support has been ardently using Team Viewer to work through issues with customers. I've used the desktop sharing software when viewing sales presentations and it's quite helpful. Team Viewer is completely free for non-commercial use and, according to our very own Chris "Fox" Wallace, the program works perfectly for student/teacher interaction. Mac and Windows versions are available.

Hold'em Manager is compatible with PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, PartyPoker, Absolute Poker, CryptoLogic sites, Dracula Hold'em, Microgaming sites, iPoker sites, Bodog, Ultimate Bet, OnGame sites, Everest, Betfair, and Pacific Poker.
