You’ve already read about Omaha Manager here on PokerSoftware.com. If not, check out our Omaha Manager Review and you’ll learn everything you need to know about this software, which is made by the folks who brought you Holdem Manager and is quickly growing in popularity. Providing a full tracking and analysis program for the game, Omaha Manager has now had a few weeks to be embraced by the market. PokerSoftware.com sat down with its developer, Roy Goncalves, to learn about this popular add-on for Holdem Manager.

PokerSoftware.com: Tell us about the overall response to the Omaha add-on so far.

Goncalves: The response has been excellent and we’ve seen a lot of excited people able to analyze their game and their opponents in ways that were never before possible.

PokerSoftware.com: What have been the most common questions or concerns from players? How have you responded to them?

Goncalves: Omaha works exactly the same way as Hold’em support and, in fact, both run within the same instance of the program. You can easily jump between Hold’em and Omaha stats or even merge them if you’d like. This familiarity has resulted in very few questions and concerns.

PokerSoftware.com: Are there any sales figures you can share with our poker software enthusiasts? Have they exceeded, met, or fallen short of your expectations?

Goncalves: We can’t share sales figures, but the levels have definitely exceeded our projections. Our thoughts are that a lot of Hold’em players are now making the move to Omaha largely due to the Omaha support we added. These players now feel better equipped to deal with a new game.

PokerSoftware.com: What product tweaks might we see in the near future?

Goncalves: By building on the foundation of Hold’em Manager, we are able to deliver new functionality to both Omaha and Hold’em. For example, our Table Scanner, which is currently in beta, works for both Hold’em and Omaha tables. The three main upgrades coming in Version 1.09 are a powerful auto-rate system, multi-currency, and the launch of the Table Scanner.

PokerSoftware.com: How important was the Omaha add-on to differentiate yourself from your major competitors like PokerTracker and Poker Office?

Goncalves: There are a lot of ways that we feel we very positively differentiate ourselves from the competition, but this is one more obvious piece of the puzzle. A lot of the other things we pride ourselves in - our support team, the product’s tremendous depth, its stability, and the rate of continuous improvement - are appreciated by our customers, so this is one more obvious differentiating factor. We’ve had many people purchase just the Omaha stand-alone module because they had other software for Hold’em. Within days of purchasing it, they bought our Hold’em product once they realized what our software is capable of.

PokerSoftware.com: Hold’em Manager has always been one of the leaders in poker tracking software development. What's the next big thing we can expect?

Goncalves: We have a team of people behind our product and a very vocal user base. There are a lot of things coming and we will continue to be the innovators of the online poker software space.

PokerSoftware.com: Has it improved your own Omaha game?

Goncalves: It will probably be awhile before I can play the same stakes in Omaha that I do in Hold’em, but it is a very fun game to learn!
