PlayerGPS Announces AIM Notification and Pricing

PlayerGPS has been featured here at PokerSoftware.com multiple times, first when we announced its services and then afterwards as a first impressions round-up covering its features.  We also ran an in-depth interview with its manager and gained perspective into where PlayerGPS was heading, what new features were on the horizon, and the controversy surrounding its pricing structure. Last week, however, the poker buddy list program announced a new wave of features that was now live.  In addition, the pricing structure set for all usage levels was officially announced.

The new features include the ability to have AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) send you a message any time one of the players within your alert list logs onto a ring game on either PokerStars or Full Tilt Poker.  Each individual person within your alert list can be set to “On” or “Off” for each one of the three notification types: AIM, SMS text message, or e-mail. Every time a person logs in and sits down at a ring game, PlayerGPS will notify you via the method you have set up.  A SMS text message reads:

FRM: PlayerGPS Alerts
SUBJ: PlayerGPS Alert: “Player Name”
MSG:  “Player Name” is sitting at “Site Name.”  Visit www.playergps.com “Now Playing” page for details.

An e-mail alert reads:

Title: PlayerGPS Alert: * Player Name *
MSG: “Player Name” is sitting at “Site Name.”  Visit www.playergps.com “Now Playing” page for details.

Also available is a “Bulk Action” feature from within the alert configuration page that can globally turn on or off alerts for all players or those within certain categories.  This makes turning on or off all of your alerts a very simple process; before, a user would have to go through and activate each individual one at a time.

It should be noted that PlayerGPS can also serve as a great form of security for your online poker account at PokerStars or Full Tilt Poker.  Simply add yourself as a friend in the “Alert List” page and you’ll be notified every time that you log onto the site you belong to.  If you’re out to dinner or in bed when you get the notification, then you’re immediately aware that your account has been hijacked and can take the necessary steps to stop it.

Finally, the pricing model for PlayerGPS.com has been posted on the home page.  The site is completely free to use until June 1st, when the following pricing model will take effect:

“Grinder”: Allows players to scan tables from 50nl ($0.25-$0.50 blinds) through 200nl ($1-$2 blinds).  All cash games between these levels in Hold’em, Omaha, and Mixed Games will be scanned for your alert list.  The fee is $7.49 per month.

“Shark”: Scans tables from the 50nl ($0.25-$0.50 blinds) level through 2,000nl ($10-$20 blinds).  All Hold’em, Omaha, and Mixed cash games for these levels are covered for the price of $14.99 per month.

“Balla”: Grants users the ability to scan all cash games (Hold’em, Omaha and Mixed Games) at any level from 50nl and above.  The cost of this type of account is $24.99 per month.

Poker players are encouraged to check out the remaining days left on the free trial available through the end of the month at PlayerGPS.
