In case you missed it, the popular poker buddy list program Player Stalker has merged with PlayerGPS. As a result, the latter program, which survived the merge, is bigger, better, and faster than ever. Track your family, friends, fish, favorite pros, and even yourself using PlayerGPS, which is compatible with many of the world’s top online poker sites. PokerSoftware.com sat down with PlayerGPS officials to recap the combination.

PokerSoftware.com: What changes can existing PlayerGPS members expect as a result of the merger with Player Stalker?

PlayerGPS: We took the technology off of PlayerStalker and, when I talk about technology, I mean getting the information from the poker rooms. I believe that PlayerGPS has a better brand and a better image than Player Stalker.

A couple of new features were also introduced. One shows the highest amount that someone had been sitting with and the amount they have now. That’s new. That’s a great feature that PlayerStalker never had. You can imagine that people would play much differently based on that as well.

PokerSoftware.com: How does PlayerGPS obtain information from online poker sites?

PlayerGPS: Take PokerStars, for example. We scan all of the tables. They have so many tables that we have to scan certain parts and update the database. Sometimes, we’ll have two programs to update certain stakes since there can be hundreds or even thousands of tables. We have different servers that scan different parts of each room. On top of that, the sites are very hard to get the information from. They are constantly doing updates and a lot of the information is hidden.

PokerSoftware.com: Why was Player Stalker’s way of getting the information better than PlayerGPS’?

PlayerGPS: The programmers involved. They’re just geniuses. It seems like the people from PlayerGPS were better at web programming. So, we brought the web programmers and scraper programmers together.

PokerSoftware.com: What’s in store for PlayerGPS?

PlayerGPS: We’ll hopefully have all of the networks except for Cake Poker. Right now, our main focus is Ongame. No tool works on Ongame; PokerTracker and Holdem Manager don’t work, for example. We’re going to be the only tool that works there. The folks at Ongame are really good at blocking information that’s coming out of the software.

PokerSoftware.com: We understand you have a fundraising effort planned for the victims of the Haiti earthquake?

PlayerGPS: We’re donating 100% of our profits to Haiti in February. Every single dollar that goes into PlayerGPS is going to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. A lot of the other affiliate sites have done it and it’ll give people a good reason to try out our product.

PokerSoftware.com: Talk about your fleet of endorsers, which includes Victory Poker pros Antonio Esfandiari and Alec “traheho” Torelli.

PlayerGPS: We have a really strong team here. The team we had before mainly consisted of tournament players. A PlayerGPS team had to be geared towards cash game. Players we’ve added like Andrew “good2cu” Robl and Brian “tsarrast” Rast are the type of pros who should be endorsing this product.
