The Cake Poker Network is the fourth largest poker network that accepts players from the United States and offers some amazing deals if you’re a first-time player on its flagship site, Cake Poker.  Get 33% rakeback on a dealt system plus a 110% first-time deposit bonus up to $600.  One thing that kept away a few regular online poker players from Cake Poker was what was perceived to be an outdated software client.  The good news is that the new Cake Poker 2.0 is nearing completion and the beta edition is now public.

To receive the new Beta 2.0, simply go to the download area.  From there, you will see a box with the title “Fresh Software – Try Cake 2.0.”  Click it and a download of about 18 MB will start.  The installation will go to a new directory in case you don’t want to use the new Beta edition in the future.

The first thing you will notice is the upgraded lobby that features new graphics and a new layout; it’s also now resizeable.  In the top right corner is the login button and after you log in, you will see your number of Gold Cards, Gold Chips, Gold Stacks, and tournament tickets.  Below that box is the cashier button.

There are three main options now – “Ring Games,” “Tournaments,” and “Sit and Go,” each of which has stakes and limits filters that work via small radio buttons.  There is also an advanced filter, which exposes a number of ways to find exactly the games you are looking for.  Within the "Ring Game Filter," you can sort by table size (two, six, nine, or other), stakes, and speed.

Perhaps the most dramatic changes at Cake Poker are in the new table graphics, which have been drastically altered for the better.  The table and layout is now colorful and sharp, whether you pick the classic or simple theme.  The latter is most likely to be more popular with multi-tabling regulars, as it’s laid out in a very organized manner.

All of the themes are customizable and you can even edit them to your liking by changing the felt color, carpet color, card back, and card face.  You can now also use preset table layout functions, which can arrange your tables on the four corners of your screen, tile or cascade the windows, or set them all to the minimum or default size:

All of the good news for ring game tables is true for tournament tables.  Inside this section of the lobby, the advanced filter allows you to pick by table size, format, rebuy, buy-in, game type, and status.  Because the fonts are easier to read, finding tournaments has never been easier.  There are even “My Tournaments” and “Tournament Lobby” buttons to help you keep track of what you’re participating in.

The controls inside the table are much easier to access and laid out in a more intelligent manner.  The tables also change the color of their border to let you know when action is required, which makes multi-tabling on Cake Poker a lot easier.

Overall, it looks like the Cake Poker 2.0 Beta software is actually something that’s very close to completion.  The software is strictly for Windows-based computers and even older computers should be able to run it without any issues.  If you have stayed away from Cake Poker in the past because you didn’t like the software, it’s definitely time to check it out, especially given the lucrative rakeback and bonuses we are offering.  Cake Poker regulars will definitely enjoy the new software, as it looks to be a surefire hit.
