Being able to have reliable notes on opponents can be a huge advantage if you strictly rely on your Heads-Up Display (HUD) and pure guts at the online poker tables.  Making the right read in a crucial situation can mean all the difference in the world to your session’s profitability, so having notes in place can be a huge advantage.  We recently took a look at NoteCaddy, a program for Windows that automates the note taking process.  The programmers behind the software have released several major updates.

The first was released on July 20th to bring the software up to Version 1.02.  This update greatly enhanced filtering and split the 31 to 90 BB stack size into 31 to 45 and 46 to 90 BB groups.  There were a ton of add-ons for this free patch, including support for Merge Gaming Network sites like Carbon Poker.  In addition, there was a new “General” tab because the pre-flop section was getting too crowded.  There were checkboxes added for won hand or lost hand and caching for player stats was also put into the mix.

It didn’t take long for Version 1.03 to come along, as it was released only five days later.  Support for Bodog was added and the program enabled manual color-coding for Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars.  The ability to synch database notes with PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker’s notes.xml file was also added.

Version 1.04 was referred to as “the big one” by the admin of the NoteCaddy website.  It added note opportunities, which will let notes be more reflective of how often a player could have acted in a certain way.  The patch added note grouping so notes could be grouped by street and also added note thresholds, which specify that a note has to be taken “x” amount of times in order to appear.  Also added was the ability to run notes against files on your own hard drive for players who remove files from their database, but still want the notes from them.  Finally, the ability to synch database notes with the PartyPoker client was added, as was a seek button inside the definition scripting tool.

On August 9th, Version 1.05 made its debut and added highlighting for Holdem Manager, which gives the note icon a red background in the HUD for increased visibility.  A fix for the “exporting to text file” option was addressed and an enhancement for color-coding was put into the patch.  NoteCaddy’s programmers added the ability to “put no money” for flop, turn, and river scripting and added a “post out of turn” option for pre-flop hands.  Another added feature was “Auto group notes by game size.”

Version 1.06 was released on August 22nd and added a Quick Notes window, allowing users to add notes from a selection of your definitions without resetting all of your notes.  On top of that, a new variable called “$cardrange” was added and can be used as a replacement for “$cards,” which lets it attempt to put all similar notes onto the same line.

Also added was the ability to enter a range of players dealt to in a hand manually and the option to define “opportunities” for post-flop actions.  Finally, this patch added the ability to specify that all actions a player committed per street must have been checked off, which prevents some false positives when looking for things like continuation bets.

The most recent patch brings the program to Version 1.07, which was released on September 19th.  This edition added a “note history” screen, which allows you to search for a player and look at the hands that caused NoteCaddy to create a note on them.  This update added the ability for users to specify player types, for both “hero” and “enemy.”  Pacific Poker support was also added to this patch, as were a few small changes to improve usability.  Check out Note Caddy today.
