The poker software industry continues to wait for the release of PokerTracker 4 with bated breath, as the company continues to provide small snippets of what it is capable of.  PokerTracker is in the midst of a video preview series on its site, allowing users to preview the benefits and features of the latest release, and continues to search for areas of improvement to provide the most player-centric program in history.

Online poker players are encouraged to view the series of videos on the new look and design and take a gander at the newest features of PT4.  The staff at PokerTracker is actively pouring through the comments and criticisms to make changes to the program so that when it’s released, it’s going to be designed with the player’s vision in mind.

The third video in the PT4 development series provides an in-depth look at the Equity and ICM Calculators provided in the software.  The features afford players a post-game look at the plays that were optimal or equitable to determine whether or not they were correct.  The most fundamental tool used to evaluate a play is an equity calculator, which is used to compute each player’s expected likelihood of winning a pot, and which players will win on average over many repeated trials.

The equity calculator is most easily accessed through the PT4 hand replayer.  The look, design, and function are akin to that of PokerStove, but PokerTracker also adds the functionality of being able to import and export hand ranges of your opponents.

Omaha High and Omaha High/Low calculations are supported for fixed hand ranges.  For Hold’em players, the hand range is completely customizable through a series of preset filters and combinations of typical hand ranges.  Seeing the program in action is the best way to appreciate the unbelievable mathematical computations and formulas used to design perhaps the most unique calculator available.

Another fantastic feature for tournament players is the ability to calculate complex tournament equity situations.  Whereas typical equity calculators calculate the equity based on the chips in play, the method simply doesn’t work for tournaments, as the value of the chips doesn’t correlate to the value of the money in the prize pool.  Enter the Independent Chip Module Calculator to determine a players’ probability of finishing based on stack sizes multiplied by the prize amounts.

The PT4 ICM Calculator is an amazing addition to the program.  Players and users have the ability to use the program’s preset calculations or adjust them manually.  You also have the ability to launch PokerTracker’s Final Table ICM Calculator from within the hand replayer to get stack equity results at any decision point.  The calculator can help you adjust your pre-flop starting requirements to help you better determine the most optimal decisions to make as you play.

The program even has an ICM Quiz with several options for allowing players to learn the most appropriate hands to shove or fold based on ICM% and Fold ICM%.  The quiz teaches players hands that will have the most value in tournament situations as well as the best way to play those hands.  The simulation and quiz are customizable to find the mediums on what would be a good decision and a bad decision.

All online poker players interested in the newest features of PokerTracker 4 are highly encouraged to view the sample videos and provide feedback. After all, it might be your observations and suggestions that make the new PokerTracker 4 an even better program than it already is.
