One of the keys to winning big in poker is learning as much as you can about strategy.  Sure, anyone can get lucky and win a tournament for big money, but to have a better chance at winning in the long-term, most successful players would agree that you should constantly strive to get better.

With so many different types of poker training, it could be difficult to decide which is best for you.  With this in mind, we have broken out coaching into four categories: videos, hands-on poker training, learn while playing, and one-on-one coaching.

Regardless of whether you are playing poker for the first time or are already dominating the game, watching how others approach the game successfully can help you bring your game to a higher level.  You can check out all of the training sites we have reviewed; however, if you play poker tournaments, our top recommendation is Tournament Poker Edge.

Tournament Poker Edge features over 800 videos and is constantly adding more by some of the biggest names in the online poker tournament arena including Casey "bigdogpckt5s" Jarzabek, Mike Sowers, Jamie Kerstetter, and Justin "looshle" Pechie.  One of the reasons we recommend checking out Tournament Poker Edge is the site's low price of $29.99 per month, $84.95 per quarter, or $299.99 for a full year.

If you want a more hands-on approach, you should instead consider checking out Advanced Poker Training or PokerSnowie.  Both pieces of software pit you against artificial intelligence and help plug leaks in your game.

One of the most popular features of Advanced Poker Training is the Beat the Pro Challenge series.  Here, you can play certain hands alongside professional poker players like Mike Caro, Scott Clements, and Jonathan Little and learn why they made a certain move.

PokerSnowie has a similar feature called Challenge PokerSnowie, with the one main difference being you are competing against artificial intelligence.  The software also provides advice telling you what it believes is the optimal move in each scenario.

While both PokerSnowie and Advanced Poker Training make it possible to learn while playing without losing any real money, you can also try to learn while playing with the help of in-game poker odds calculatorsPokerTableStats is a great choice for a calculator if you're focusing on No Limit Hold'em and primarily play on PokerStars. The software helps you get a handle on all of the math behind the game, giving you plenty of information on your odds and outs.  The software also provides a helpful HUD so you can learn to profile your opponents.

The Indicator programs also provide an in-game poker odds calculator and HUD.  There are many different types of Indicator programs available depending on the type of game you are playing and the type of computer you are using.  PC users should consider using Holdem Indicator for Hold'em ring games, Tournament Indicator for tournaments, Omaha Indicator for Omaha, and Stud Indicator for Stud and Razz.  If you are on a Mac, you should consider checking out iHoldem Indicator and iOmaha Indicator.

If you are looking to get one-on-one coaching for ring games, check out Leak Buster 4Leak Buster 4 will not only help you identify you leaks, but also give a coaching report that can help make your coaching sessions more efficient.  For many users, the software more than pays for itself many times over due to the money saved on expensive coaching fees.

Even if you don't plan to get coaching, Leak Buster 4 is still helpful to help you identify the areas of your game that you should focus on most, making any method of poker training more effective.
