One drawback of playing at Carbon Poker is that it does not export hand histories, so you are not able to use tracking and analysis programs such as Poker Tracker or Hold’em Manager. An upside to this is that you will not find HUD bot grinders infesting the tables. This makes the games looser, fishier, and more accessible to beginning players. The note taking system is fairly robust and allows you to classify players so that you can mark the sharks to avoid and the fish to target.
Carbon Poker has tons and tons of freerolls, so if you are a player just starting out, Carbon is a great site to grow your bankroll on. It even has a monthly $50,000 freeroll that is available to anyone who meets a fairly low point requirement each month. The points that you earn while playing can also be used to enter tournaments or can be redeemed in the Comp Points store for Carbon Poker merchandise.
If you have dreams of playing in a big live tournament, Carbon Poker offers satellites into many of the major events. As an Australia-based poker room, it has many promotions and tournaments that focus on giving away entries into the Aussie Millions. Carbon Poker Software and Features
Carbon Poker has some of the most unique software in the industry. It has always been among the first to offer new and different features to its games. From rabbit cams to showing one card to running two boards, Carbon Poker offers a plethora of twists that will engage poker players. Some features are more of a novelty that will appeal to beginning players, such as the rabbit cam. Others, such as the ability to “deal it twice,” will help more advanced players reduce their variance.
The lobby at Carbon Poker is divided up using a tab system that makes it extremely easy to find the games that you want. There is also a filter that further lets you reduce the clutter in the lobby down to a simple list of exactly what you are looking for. The lobby, as is the rest of the Carbon Poker software, is extremely sharp and clean looking. It has an almost futuristic look to it that makes the playing experience very enjoyable. The blue/silver/black color scheme is easy on the eyes and good looking.
On the table, every player has an optional avatar, their stack size, their last action, as well as a section that shows any "accolades" that player has won. You can disable your own "accolades," which include things like tournament wins, to give your opponents less information on how much you play. Tables are resizable and use ‘vector graphics’ so that the images are always crystal clear. One complaint about the table is that the grey on black text in the chat box can be difficult to read. Other than that, it is difficult to complain about any aspect of the Carbon Poker software.
