Poker Tracking Software

As a poker player, one of the most important kinds of software that you can use is tracking and analysis software. This poker tracking software allows you to keep track of your wins and losses by loading all of the hand histories that are generated by the poker sites that you play at. All of this information is stored in a database on your computer and the tracking and analysis software analyzes this data to generate statistics about the way that you and your opponents are playing. Poker player tracking also lets you see who is winning and losing so that you can target weaker players and exploit their losing tendencies. Poker tracking software often includes a Heads-Up Display (HUD) that lets you displays all of these statistics directly on the poker table so that you can use them to aid in your decision making.

Another vital component of tracking and analysis software is the analytical portion. All the statistics in the world won't help you if you don't know how to understand them. Many of the most popular trackers such as Holdem Manager and Poker Tracker 3 have built in reports that put the most vital information into an easy to access and understand format. Often times this can include graphs displaying information such as win rates and positional statistics. The tracking and analysis software Poker Academy Prospector even goes so far as to compare your statistics against general averages so that you can see any deviations in your play that might cause losses.

The primary factors that you want to look at when choosing a piece of poker tracking software are the inclusion of a HUD, support for the poker rooms that you play at, computer resource requirements, and ongoing support from the developers. The best tracker available would be useless to you if it doesn't support the site that you primarily play at. Most of the modern trackers include HUDs and have continued support. While the differences between the available poker tracking software options might not seem significant, you should consider all of them when you are choosing which online poker tracking software to use.

One tracker in particular has excellent customer support that will go the extra mile to make sure every customer has a positive experience and gets the software working correct. This tracker is Hold'em Manager. The main competitor to Hold'em Manger is PokerTracker. Another is Poker Academy Prospector, although this tracker lacks a HUD which is a vital component for online play. Others include PokerOffice, and the up and coming FreePokerDB (FPDB). The FPDB is open source, which makes it a great option if you are looking for free poker tracking software.
