Poker Academy Prospector Synopsis

Poker Academy Prospector is a relatively new entrant into the poker tracking and analysis market. As such, it offers some innovative features, but at the same time still suffers from being a young product. It was developed in Java and it has a nice looking, easy to use interface. Prospector is extremely resource intensive when doing pretty much anything. With large hand history databases, it will slow nearly any computer to a crawl. Prospector introduces some reporting and analysis functions that can help players improve their game by identifying leaks. Overall, Prospector does not offer a lot to advanced players and its lack of support for a HUD is disappointing.

Poker Academy Prospector Full Review

Prospector is a piece of poker tracking and analysis software offered by Poker Academy, a well-known and respected poker software developer. It is relatively new and is still lacking many features that make tracking programs useful, such as support for a HUD. It does excel in pointing out leaks in players' games and analyzing their play, as well as detailed hand replays. If you don't have a fairly modern computer with a lot of RAM, Prospector is going to run too slowly to be of any use. Running any kind of report or analysis will take a long time and slow your computer to a crawl, making it unusable for anything else.

In its current stage of development, Prospector will fulfill the needs of newer players who are looking to improve their game and fix leaks. People unfamiliar with existing software such as PokerTracker will find Prospector to be a lot easier to use and understand. Advanced players could benefit from the reporting tools, but for the cost of the software, there are other tools that would be more beneficial and provide other features. Poker Academy is regularly releasing updates to the software and it definitely has a lot of potential to compete with the likes of PokerTracker, Hold'em Manager, and Poker Office if it continues on its current path.
