PartyPoker Unleashes New Software

On September 5, PartyPoker rolled out new poker software. The long anticipated release is primarily designed to attract new and casual players to the site while still keeping much of the general design that the existing customer base is used to.

The software release was made available to Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android players at the same time and the color scheme changed from green to white and orange. The company also took the opportunity to redesign its logo to help re-brand its image.

The main theme around the new PartyPoker software is providing a social and friendly experience. With so many casual players playing free money poker on social gaming networks such as Facebook, this appears to be a great way to attract these players who are itching to try out real money gaming.

A new feature of PartyPoker includes the ability to be rewarded when completing certain achievements. While we have seen this before with Full Tilt's Poker Academy, there is currently no major software that is integrating this into its client.

When a player has accomplished an achievement, they receive a virtual trophy that allows tHEM to brag to their friends. The three classifications of achievements are Collectables, Milestones, and Highlights. Many are easy to obtain, such as playing your first cash game hand, while others are more difficult and even hidden, which PartyPoker refers to as Easter Eggs.

The new software also allows you to complete missions. This, in combination with the achievements, is sure to attract new players to try new types of games and keep them entertained. You can be rewarded for hitting achievements and missions with tournament tickets, vouchers, PartyPoker store points, and bonuses.

If you have friends who play on PartyPoker, you can add them as friends in the software. You'll then have a news feed to see what your friends have been up to on PartyPoker, including when they last logged in, what achievements they have accomplished, and what tournaments they have won. Players who want to be a little more private about what they share can restrict what is shown on their news feed via privacy settings.

The friends list is a great way for new players to boast to their buddies what they have been doing and, in general, provides a very friendly experience that is most likely going to keep them coming back.

A new feature for every type of player is the quick seat function, which allows you to quickly find a seat without having to go through the lobby to do so. Also, players who do not like the new software features can easily revert back to the old lobby theme.

The game play itself is basically identical to how it was in the older software client. So, even if some of the new changes aren't attractive, it doesn't affect the main core of what poker players want to do, which is play poker. Existing players should be pleased that the new software should bring in more casual players.
