If you use a Mac and are also using or considering using PokerTracker 4, you will be more than pleased with the latest release, PokerTracker 4.14.4.

This release addresses a major issue that was concerning many Mac users with the HUD for Zoom Poker on PokerStars.  The newest release now has full support for Zoom Poker for Mac OS X users and the HUD is now as "stable and efficient" as the one Windows users enjoy from their version of PokerTracker.

Derek Charles, Managing Partner at Max Value Software (the parent company of both PokerTracker and Hold'em Manager), explained to PokerSoftware why support for Zoom Poker on Mac OS X computers was a problem in the past.

"Mac OS X does not allow for us to support PokerStars Zoom using the same techniques that we use for Windows.  Therefore, until now, we have not been able to provide Zoom support for Mac OS X," explained Charles.  "The only other option was optical character recognition, but we have determined that has the potential to be unreliable and we could not risk providing incorrect data to players."

Charles added, "However, a recent change has provided us with the ability to now support PokerStars Zoom without using OCR.  The end result should be a Zoom HUD on Mac OS X that is as stable and efficient as the Windows version."

Charles also talked about the immense amount of work involved to make what Mac poker players have been asking for a reality.  "A lot of hard work has taken place behind the scenes both on an administrative and development level in order for us to make Mac OS X Zoom support the reality that it is today," Charles shared.

If you want to take advantage of PokerTracker's full support of Zoom Poker, it is very important to note that the first time after downloading the newest version of the software that you first have PokerStars closed.  Once you download latest release, you first need to load the PokerTracker software and start the import before you open PokerStars.  PokerTracker explained on its forum that if your Zoom Poker HUD still does not work after following these steps, you should uninstall PokerStars and reinstall the poker client again since it likely that the client was corrupted and this should fix the problem.

Additionally, this release will now support the upcoming Mac OS X release, Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan.  Even though this OS X version has yet to be officially released by Apple, it is great to see that the team at PokerTracker is ahead of the curve and already supporting this new operating system when it becomes ready to be used by the masses.

There were also some smaller issues addressed with this release as well.  A fix was released for PokerStars players experiencing a "Fixed Access Violation" message when clicking "Play Poker."  An issue was also fixed on 888 Poker.  Previously when a player left the table before a hand was completed, it showed that player as going to showdown.  The software now shows how the player played the hand correctly.

For those of you who use the hand history replayer displayed in Big Blinds instead of chip count, an issue was fixed where antes are now correctly displayed.
